Biking on the Crystal Coast

If you enjoy biking be sure to bring your bike to the Crystal Coast. All along the Bogue Banks you’ll see “Share the Road” signs which include bike lanes along the highway.

My son, daughter, daughter-in-law and I recently biked from Emerald Isle to the Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores (25 miles) and back. The great thing about biking along the Crystal Coast is how flat the ride is. This makes biking for all skill levels a breeze.

Should your bike require a quick fix the guys at Hiway 58 Bikes are awesome at servicing all makes and models of bikes!

The town of Emerald Isle has just announced the 2011 July 4th fireworks display will return to the Bogue Inlet Fishing Pier after a two year absence.

Large Swells from Hurricane Igor Pound the Crystal Coast!

What Were You Doing 9 Years Ago?

Nine years ago today our family was flying from Raleigh-Durham to Atlanta to connect to Grand Cayman Island for a family vacation. Upon arriving in Atlanta at the E Concourse the world forever changed as we stood in horror watching the TV broadcast as the Twin Towers and the United States came under attack.

Today as we were flying home and again connected through Atlanta, I experienced those same haunting, sickening feelings of that day. I promised to never forget those innocent souls and the heroes who perished attempting to save others. I also pledge to keep the members of our military in my thoughts and prayers as they protect our nation against future attacks.
